Lleyton Hewitt est devenu le troisième joueur actif à remporter 600 victoires sur le circuit de l'ATP quand il a battu le Néerlandais Robin Haase 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 au premier tour de l'Omnium de Miami jeudi.
Hewitt a rejoint Roger Federer (942 victoires) et Rafael Nadal (675) dans ce club sélect. L'ex-numéro un mondial a atteint les demi-finales du tournoi de Key Biscayne trois fois.
Son compatriote australien Bernard Tomic, à son premier match depuis janvier, s'est quant à lui incliné devant le Finlandais Jarkko Nieminen 6-0, 6-1. Tomic tente un retour après avoir été opéré aux deux hanches.
