PAUL RYAN - Paul Ryan, qui deviendra vice-président si Mitt Romney remporte l'élection américaine de novembre, admet être un fan du groupe Rage Against the Machine. Mais c'est un amour loin d'être partagé...

Dans un long papier consacré à Paul Ryan, figure du parti républicain, dans le New York Times, on apprend que l'homme politique compte Rage Against the Machine parmi ses groupes favoris. Et peu importe le paradoxe. En effet, comme le souligne l'article, Paul Ryan est un grand défenseur du libre-échange et sa famille détient des parts dans des compagnies pétrolières alors que le groupe de métal dénonce justement l'avidité de ces firmes et encourage sur son site le mouvement "Occupy Wall Street".

Une réponse à cette déclaration d'amour ne s'est pas faite attendre de la part des intéressés. Tom Morello, guitariste du groupe a envoyé une lettre au magazine Rolling Stone expliquant qu'il trouvait cela "amusant".

"Paul Ryan aime Rage Against the Machine, c'est amusant car il est justement la machine contre qui nous sommes en rage depuis deux décennies. Charles Manson aimait les Beatles mais ne les comprenait pas. Le gouverneur Chris Christie aimait Bruce Springsteen sans le comprendre. Et Paul Ryan est complétement paumé face à son groupe préféré, Rage Against the Machine".

Pour ceux qui pensent encore que Tom Morello a été flatté par la déclaration de Tom Ryan, il ajoute non sans humour:

"Je me demande quelle est la chanson de Rage Against the Machine que Ryan préfère. Celle où nous condamnons le génocide amérindien? Celle ou nous fustigeons contre l'impérialisme américain? Notre pochette "Fuck la police"? Ou encore la chanson ou nous appelons le peuple à s'emparer des moyens de production?"

Tom Morello avait d'ailleurs fait sensation en rejoignant le mouvement Occupy Wall-Street afin de supporter les contestataires du système en place.

C'est la deuxième fois que le Parti républicain s'attire les foudres d'artistes. Il y a quelques jours, le groupe The Silversun Pickups fustigeait contre l'équipe de campagne de Romney qui utilisait leur chanson Panic Switch lors de meeting. "Nous n'aimons pas les gens qui agissent pas derrière, déclarait le chanteur Brian Aubert, ni ceux qui utilisent notre musique sans permission et nous n'aimons pas la campagne de Romney. Nous sommes sympas et faciles d'approche. Nous ne mordons pas... Sauf si vous êtes Mitt Romney!"
