La chanteuse Adele a remporté cinq prix, dont le prix Grammy de l'Album de l'année, celui de la chanson de l'année et de l'enregistrement de l'année, dimanche lors de la 59e cérémonie des Grammy à Los Angeles.
C'est une Adele qui se confondait en excuse, qui a accepté le prix de la chanson de l'année, le titre "Hello", de la part de la chanteuse Céline Dion.
Quelques minutes avant de se présenter sur scène pour accepter le trophée, la chanteuse avait commencé, arrêté et puis redémarré un hommage musical au regretté George Michael.
Comme elle se préparait à recommencer, elle a laissé échapper un juron.
"Tout d'abord je m'excuse sincèrement de jurer," a-t-elle dit au début de son discours de remerciement, ajoutant que Georges Michael signifiait tellement pour elle qu'elle ne voulait pas lui manquer de respect avec une performance médiocre.
Le gala en onde des prix Grammy n'était pas encore commencé qu'Adele comptait déjà deux trophées de plus dans sa collection.
La chanteuse britannique a remporté deux Grammy au cours du gala hors d'ondes. Son album "25" a été choisi le meilleur album de pop vocal. Elle a été préférée à Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato et Sia.
Quelques instants auparavant, on lui avait décerné une statuette pour la meilleure prestation pop.
Adele a eu l'honneur de lancer le gala principal en interprétant son succès "Hello". Visiblement heureuse de sa prestation, elle a su faire oublier les problèmes de micro qui avaient entaché celle de l'année précédente.
Sa grande rivale pour le gala de 2017, Beyonce, a pour sa part remporté le Grammy de l'album de musique urbaine contemporaine et celui du meilleur vidéoclip.
Elle a livré un numéro fort élaboré sur le thème de la maternité. Elle a été fortement applaudie par les spectateurs.
Le 59e gala des Grammy était animé par le comédien britannique James Corden.
Les artistes n'ont pas pu tous éviter de parler de politique. La première présentatrice de la soirée, Jennifer Lopez, y a fait allusion sans nommer le nouveau président Donald Trump. "En ce moment, nous n'avons pas besoin du silence", a-t-elle déclaré avant de remettre un Grammy à Chance the Rapper, choisi révélation de l'année.
Venue présenter le premier numéro musical du gala, Paris Jackson _ la fille de Michael _ a lancé "on aurait besoin de ce genre d'énergie lors d'une manifestation contre les oléoducs".
L'étoile de David Bowie a continué de scintiller plus d'un an après sa mort. Il a remporté quatre prix à titre posthume pour "Blackstar", le disque sorti avant sa mort en janvier 2016: album de musique alternative de l'année, meilleure prestation rock (où il a été notamment préféré à Beyonce et Jack White) et meilleure prise de son pour un album de musique qui n'est pas classique. "Blackstar" a aussi été nommée chanson rock de l'année.
Drake s'illustre
Les Canadiens Bernie Herms et Drake se sont illustrés lors du gala hors d'ondes des prix Grammy, dimanche.
La chanson "Hotline Bring" a permis à Drake de remporter deux trophées, le premier pour la "chanson rap de l'année", le second pour la meilleure prestation d'une chanson rap.
Drake compte maintenant trois statuettes à son actif.
Il n'était pas à présent pour recevoir sa récompense puisqu'il est au coeur d'une tournée européenne. C'est son producteur Paul Jefferies, qui est venu chercher le trophée. "Drake et les gars sont actuellement à Londres, a-t-il dit. Je viens à peine d'arriver alors au nom de l'équipe More Life, je vous remercie."
"More Life" est le prochain projet musical de Drake. Il doit être lancé bientôt sur les services de musique en continu.
Quant à Herms, il l'a emporté dans la catégorie meilleure prestation ou chanson de musique chrétienne contemporaine pour "Thy Will", une chanson interprétée par Hillary Scott et la famille Scott.
L'album "Love Remains" de Scott, qui contient cette chanson, a été choisi meilleur album de musique chrétienne contemporaine.
Les organisateurs du gala hors d'ondes ont rendu hommage à Leonard Cohen. Judy Collins a interprété, seule au piano, la grande chanson de l'auteur-compositeur-interprète montréalais: "Suzanne".
Collins a raconté la fois où Cohen lui a présenté pour la première fois les paroles de la chanson.
"Il est arrivé dans mon salon et m'a dit: 'je ne sais pas jouer de la guitare et je ne sais pas chanter. Et je ne sais pas si cela est une chanson'".
