PÉKIN, Chine - Une avalanche a fait neuf morts dimanche dans une région reculée de l'ouest du Tibet.
Des dizaines de chèvres et de yaks ont également été tués, selon les médias locaux.
Toutes les victimes habitaient le village de Dungru, dans la préfecture de Ngari, à plus de 1000 kilomètres de la capitale, Lhassa.
L'agence de presse Chine nouvelle rapporte qu'un mur de huit mètres de neige a emporté neuf bergers, 110 yaks et plus de 350 chèvres. On craint maintenant d'autres avalanches.

La région est parsemée de fermes et de pâturages à une altitude moyenne de 4500 mètres.
La Chine est touchée par un de ses étés les plus torrides des dernières années. Au moins 164 personnes ont été tuées et 26 autres sont portées disparues après des pluies diluviennes, des inondations, des glissements de terrain et des tempêtes de grêle, en date du 30 juin.
