MONTRÉAL - C'est l'écrivain Dany Laferrière qui recevra samedi le Grand Prix littéraire Ludger-Duvernay de la Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal.

Ce prix prestigieux lui sera remis dans le cadre du Salon du livre de Montréal.

Dany Laferrière, né en Haïti, est membre de l'Académie française. Il a notamment été le récipiendaire du prix Médicis en 2009 pour son roman "L'Énigme du retour".

Depuis 1944, le Grand Prix Ludger-Duvernay honore les plus illustres écrivains du Québec pour "leur génie artistique et leur contribution extraordinaire à la culture française d'Amérique". Cette récompense porte le nom du patriote, journaliste et écrivain qui fonda la Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste en 1834.

Parmi les anciens lauréats, on remarque Gabrielle Roy, Anne Hébert, Gaston Miron, Victor-Lévy Beaulieu, Gérald Godin, Marie Laberge et Germaine Guèvremont.
