Valentino is one of the toughest chihuahua I've ever met, with his big head and funny temperament, it was easy to associate him with the french poet Charles Baudelaire. As for many dogs today in a kennel, Valentino was first bought in a pet shop: a dog of his breed can be really expensive, but unfortunately when he was brought home his owner found out how a puppy can be difficult to be raised if you don't fully commit on it and so, after a few weeks Valentino arrived in the shelter since the shop wouldn't take it back. When we met, he's been one of the first at the kennel to welcome me, with his funny barks and a tough look on his face. He's one of those dogs that loves to play all the time, always moving and jumping all over the place. During our photo-shooting, he was somehow afraid of my camera, I guess since the dimensions were almost his own size! Support us on IndieGoGo: www.indiegogo.com/projects/poetic-dogs
Molecola was found alone on the street. Like the dandy Oscar Wilde he was looking incredibly elegant in his moves and his clean and shiny fur made the kennel's voluntaries think that he was just a lost dog. After a few months he was still there, no one claimed him back. I took his photo trying to underline the amazingly calm ways he had and his beautiful, long, black and white hair.
Meet Aky our #POETICDOG for today, an amazing half breed golden retriever that we've associated to the Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy . Since he was puppy, Aky has been trained to assist his owner, an Italian policeman, working fighting the crime and searching for drug and missing people. Unfortunately when Aky became too old for "some action", his owner decided to separate from him. Since his arrive, everyone at the shelter is taking good care of him and now he's patrolling the area, solving cases of missing cookies. During the day of our shooting, Aky was so patient and obedient that we had even the chance to dress him up as the famous writer, pulling out some hair from his shirt and somehow reproducing Leo's long beard. Like Hansel and Gretel in The Brothers Grimm's tale, Biscuit and Crumb are two little clever puppies. The only survivors of a litter of eight, they were found under a bridge on a very cold day. Their way of staying close to each other all the time saved them from a terrible death and now they're still together, waiting for a good family to share their stories with. Their shooting was one of the most challenging ones: like any puppy Biscuit and Crumb are full of energy and very affectionate, but eventually, with a little bit of cookies and patience we managed to bring this portrait to you.
