À l'approche du conclave, son nom est sur toutes les lèvres. Dans une entrevue exclusive avec Céline Galipeau, le cardinal Marc Ouellet s'est confié sur son état d'âme et sur ses chances de devenir le nouveau pape.

L'homme originaire de La Motte, en Abitibi, se dit « très conscient de la lourdeur de la tâche » qui attend le prochain souverain pontife. « Je dois entrer au conclave en me disant ''si jamais''. »
