WASHINGTON - Des chercheurs ont annoncé, jeudi, la découverte exceptionnelle d'une nouvelle espèce de mammifère.

La créature de la taille d'un raton-laveur et au visage d'ourson a été baptisée olinguito.

Un chercheur du Smithsonian a expliqué que la créature nocturne vit dans les arbres des forêts montagneuses de l'Équateur et de la Colombie. Elle mange des fruits et pèse environ 1 kilo.

Un individu de cette espèce a déjà vécu au Jardin zoologique national de Washington, mais il avait été incorrectement identifié.
