WASHINGTON _ L'attaquant étoile des Capitals de Washington Alexander Ovechkin a inscrit son 500e but en carrière dans la LNH.

Ovechkin a touché la cible en avantage numérique tard en deuxième période, dimanche, dans un match opposant les Capitals aux Sénateurs d'Ottawa.

Il a inscrit son 500e but à son 801e match dans la LNH. Il est le 43e joueur de l'histoire du circuit à atteindre ce plateau.

Le franc tireur russe a connu six saisons d'au moins 50 buts depuis ses débuts dans la LNH en 2005-06. Il a connu sa meilleure campagne en 2007-08, avec une récolte de 65 buts.
