Un match fou ! Les Etats-Unis ont dominé à la surprise générale le Ghana (2-1), en ouvrant le score par Dempsey au bout de 30 secondes, puis en reprenant l'avantage par Brooks en fin de match, quatre minutes après l'égalisation d'André Ayew, lundi à Natal, dans le groupe G du Mondial.

Et voilà les Etats-Unis à la deuxième place du groupe derrière l'Allemagne, qui avait démantelé plus tôt dans l'après-midi le Portugal d'un Cristiano Ronaldo transparent (4-0). Qui aurait parié là dessus ?

Le scénario fut incroyable ! Dempsey n'a donc attendu qu'une demi-minute de jeu pour, d'une accélération bien sentie, se jouer de Muntari et Boye et ouvrir le score (le but le plus rapide en Coupe du monde, c'est le Turc Hakan Sukur qui l'a inscrit en 2002 en 11 secondes).

Puis, après une seconde période dominée par le Ghana, André Ayew égalisa à la 82e minute. Fin de l'histoire ? Non, car Brooks redonnait l'avantage à la Team USA quatre minutes après le but de l'aîné des frères Ayew.

Pendant ce match "Coach Klinsie" est passé par toutes les émotions, comme quand il a laissé exploser sa joie devant son banc, tout comme des fans américains en tribunes rivalisant en costumes dingues, tel celui-ci déguisé en général Patton, avec uniforme kaki, étoiles et casque.

Mais que les États-Unis ont souffert. D'abord physiquement. Comme le milieu Altidore, qui s'écroulait dans une course avant d'être évacué sur une civière, présentant tous les symptômes d'une déchirure à une cuisse. Son Mondial est sans doute terminé.

Dempsey eut lui le nez en sang après avoir heurté le protège-tibia de Boye lors d'un coup de pied haut. Mais le buteur de Seattle restait sur le terrain. Puis c'est Besler, touché au niveau d'une cuisse en première période, qui sortait du terrain au début de la seconde. Pour la suite du parcours, Klinsmann devra avoir des plans de rechange.

Les Etats-Unis ont souffert aussi dans le jeu, en seconde période, sous les assauts de Muntari, Gyan ou encore Atsu. Eux furent en vue, pas Jordan Ayew, trop discret et remplacé avant l'heure de jeu. Mais les USA ont tenu et fait preuve de répondant.

La suite sera compliquée pour le Ghana, qui rencontrera l'Allemagne. Les Etats-Unis auront droit au Portugal. CR7 sera-t-il plus consistant?
