MIAMI - Le Heat de Miami a remporté la finale de la NBA en battant les Spurs de San Antonio 95-88 dans le septième match, jeudi.

Le Heat méritait ainsi le championnat pour la deuxième année d'affilée. LeBron James a dominé les siens avec 37 points et 12 rebonds, tandis que Dwyane Wade a ajouté 23 points et 10 rebonds.

«Il nous a fallu tout donner, a dit Wade. Chapeau aux Spurs de San Antonio, ils sont une organisation incroyable. Pour nous c'est la série qui a été la plus dure à gagner, mais nous sommes très tenaces et nous avons fait tout ce qui était nécessaire.»

Une fois de plus, James a été nommé le joueur par excellence de la finale. Il a notamment réussi cinq tirs de trois points sur 10.

Après trois quarts des plus serrés, le Heat a dominé 23-17 pour les points au dernier quart.

Tim Duncan a récolté 24 points et 12 rebonds pour les Spurs, qui tentaient de devenir la première équipe à gagner un match ultime en finale depuis Washington en 1978.

Kawhi Leonard a contribué 19 points et 16 rebonds.

Les Spurs avaient triomphé à leurs quatre premières présences en finale de la NBA.

Le Heat avait une mince avance de 72-71 au moment d'amorcer le dernier quart; le club menait 79-75 avec 7:30 au cadran, mais les Spurs n'ont pas abandonné.

L'équipe texane ne s'est pas aidée avec un mauvais début de quatrième quart, ratant sept de ses 10 premiers tirs et commettant cinq revirements en sept minutes.

Un revirement de Duncan a mené au sixième tir de trois points de Shane Battier, qui donnait une avance de 88-82 au Heat, avec 3:21 à disputer.

Leonard a réduit l'écart à 90-88 avec un tir de trois points, mais Duncan a raté un tir puis James a répliqué d'une distance de 19 pieds avec 27,9 secondes au cadran, ce qui a scellé l'issue du match.

Danny Green des Spurs, si efficace jusque là en finale, a raté ses huit premiers tirs et a fini le match avec cinq points, dont un seul tir réussi sur 12 en jeu continu.

Le Heat a connu une saison régulière du tonnerre avec une fiche de 66-16, incluant 27 gains d'affilée. L'équipe a montré un dossier de 37-4 devant ses partisans.

En plus de son brio à l'attaque James a su museler Tony Parker, élément crucial des Spurs, en l'amenant souvent à se défaire rapidement du ballon.

James était confronté à la possibilité d'une fiche de 1-3 en finale de la NBA, ce qui aurait fourni toute une tribune à ses nombreux détracteurs, qui ne le considèrent pas au même niveau que Michael Jordan.

James a raté quatre de ses six premiers tirs, mais il a commencé à trouver son rythme en fin de deuxième quart, avec un jeu de trois points et un tir de trois points, ce qui a placé les siens en avance 33-27.

Les Spurs auront livré une belle bataille avec comme noyau vieillissant le trio formé de Duncan, 37 ans, Parker, 31 ans, et Manu Ginobili, 35 ans.
