Subban est l'un des trois finalistes cette saison pour l'obtention du trophée Norris, qu'on accorde au meilleur défenseur de la LNH.

Le défenseur du Canadien a été choisi par les journalistes, ainsi que Kristopher Letang, des Penguins de Pittsburgh, et Ryan Suter du Wild du Minnesota.

C'est le deuxième joueur du Tricolore en lice pour l'obtention d'un trophée. Lundi, l'ailier droit Brendan Gallagher a été nommé un des finalistes pour le titre de joueur recrue par excellence.

Subban, qui fêtera son 24e anniversaire de naissance lundi prochain, a été le meilleur marqueur chez les défenseurs de la ligue, avec une récolte de 38 points, incluant 11 buts, en plus de présenter un différentiel de plus-12 en 42 matchs. Il a dominé au chapitre des points en supériorité numérique, avec 26.

Letang, 26 ans, a amassé autant de points que Subban, en seulement 35 rencontres, mais il n'a réussi que cinq buts. L'athlète natif de Sainte-Julie, sur la rive-sud de Montréal, a affiché un rendement de plus-16 en défense et il a bloqué 59 lancers.

Suter, 28 ans, a été un rouage très important du Wild, à sa première saison avec l'équipe. Il a été le défenseur le plus utilisé de la ligue, avec une moyenne de 27:16 minutes par match. Il s'est forgé un dossier de 32 points, incluant quatre buts.

Chris Chelios est le dernier défenseur du Canadien lauréat du trophée Norris, en 1989.
